HARD DRIVIN' GRASS - BLUEGRASS BAND
BLUEGRASS AT IT'S FINEST
The Hard Drivin' Grass bluegrass band was formed in March 2006 when
Mason Thomas and Zack Mays met at Cabin Fever-Pickin Party in
Hampton, VA. They are from Amherst County in the Central
Virginia area. This young band consists of Mason Thomas on
guitar and lead vocals, Zack Mays on dobro and harmony vocals and
later Zack's twin sister Samantha Mays joined on to play the stand
up bass and also sing lead & harmony vocals. They are
inspiring young musicians with a sound
of seasoned veterans.
They recorded their 1st
CD, "Pickin' Proud" with 2 original songs in November 2006. In
September 2007 they took 1st place in the 8th annual V.F.M.A. State
bluegrass band championships in Chesterfield, VA. Their 2nd CD
"The Last Train Ride", was
released in January 2008 which included another 3 original songs.
And the latest and 3rd CD "Silence of the Heart" released in January
2009 had 5 HDG original cuts.
This young band has come
a long way in just a very short time. From their own music to
traditional bluegrass they are sure to entertain with powerful
picking and strong vocals.
